Why this page?
- This page is simple for now.
- It is my personal experience with the 3G iPod from Apple Computers.
- It attempts to be blunt as possible to spare you the digging through bloggers and message forums.
- This page is not meant to educate you on what the iPod is or how it works. There are PLENTY of links for that on Google.

Why am I trying an iPod?
Why not use an iPod?
- you are a cheapskate
- you like carrying around a ton of overpriced polycarbonate platters from your colllection
Must buy items for people considering using iPod extensively for automobile use and traveling
- CORE: get the biggest iPod you can afford. Even better, get the 4 year protection plan if you buy it from places like BestBuy or CircuitCity. I've used this plans before on other electronic purchases, and they actually paid off in the long term for items like these.
- ADAPTER: get the docking station adapter to standard 6 pin firewire
- CABLE: get a travel 6-6 pin retractable firewire cable from: (DO NOT GET THE ZIPLINQ version from TigerDirect.com, that does not supply enough mA to power the iPod)
- POWER (dc): get the Belkin travel car power adapter
- POWER (ac): get the 2mA AC to DC lighter travel power adapter from Radio Shack.
STUIPD iPod stuff:
- Apple needs to concentrate on practical cases for their products instead of trying to win the Better Home and Gardens award for looks. The damn thing scratches easily. How about a titanium version?
- Going to force people to use that docking connector on the new 3G? Apple should also package the docking adapter for plugging in 6 pin firewire cables IN ADDITION to their all in one dock cable. Gee, see my MUST BUY section.
Using an iPod in an automobile (if you have no auxillary line input to the headunit):
- Have a cassette player?
- Have an FM modulator?
- Only have FM as an option?
