Benefits of the system (each item may be elaborated in detail in a separate section of this page):
- the Spread Spectrum version allows for longer range between automobile and the remote
- feedback from the system.
It is my opinion that one way systems ABSOULTELY defeat the purpose of an alarm type protection.
Why bother having a system when most people do not care when it goes off?
The only person who will give a shit is the OWNER - maybe their friends, family, spouse, etc. - remote start capabilities. EVEN on a manual (straight drive, or whatever they call it in your part of the world) transmission.
- can only be installed by "authorized" dealers.
This is good/bad? Both.
Good, the dealer should typically be up to date on the product(s).
Bad, good luck finding an authorized dealer close by if you do not live a MAJOR city (eg, population 1+ million).
Issues based on my current install (may be install related, or system related)
- HIGHLY ANNOYING: remote requires MULTIPLE sends to main unit to perform desired action.
Even a simple LOCK/UNLOCK request.
Installer mentioned this fact to me, but 1-2 minutes of pressing a button to resend is not fun.
Need to contact Firstech and/or my installer. - ANNOYING: after washing car with high pressure sprayer (yeah, some debate about how good this might be), the system refuses to acknowledge some commands until dried off. Need to contact my installer.
